In 2020, the Katina program was conducted amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The period was marked by significant lockdowns, which necessitated the utilization of virtual platforms such as Zoom and other online tools. Despite these obstacles, the program successfully completed all the important poojas, including the Katina Pinkama. As the year progressed and lockdown restrictions were eased, in-person poojas were resumed, ensuring the continuation of spiritual practices with the same devotion and significance.
In the absence of Ven Walgama Munindawansa Nayaka Hamuduruwo in Sri Lanka, the resident monks, namely Ven Udagaladeniye Yasassi Thero, Ven Hengawa Rahula Thero, and Ven. Walgama Rewatha Thero, assumed responsibility for overseeing all Katina-related activities.

Water feature near the bodhiya
Upon realizing the lack of convenient water access during the bodhi pooja, Katina team decided to built a water feature near the bodhiya. Manju took the lead and this was completed during the katina season, providing easy access to water for bodhi pooja.
