The ceremonial placing of Kotha
The ceremonial placing of Kotha took place at 11.02 on Sunday 4 September 2016. The kotha was placed by Ven Walgama Munindawansa Nayaka Thero, Viharadipathi of Sri Lankaramaya amidst chanting of pirith by Maha Sangha. The event was witnessed by a large gathering of devotees. The weather that was gloomy has turned sunny at the time of placing and white clouds gathered over the chaithya like a plate of white flowers.
